Aya Komatsu
Flute, Historical flutes, Recorders

EDUCATION
Aya Komatsu plays the modern flute as well as historical flutes (transverse and recorder). She came from Tokushima / Japan. She first studied the flute at Musikhochschule Freiburg with Prof. Robert Aitken and Prof. Felix Renggli. In 2008 she graduated with distinction. She then studied with Prof. Renggli at the Basel Academy of Music and earned her soloist diploma with distinction.
As of 2010, Aya Komatsu increasingly turned to baroque music. She first studied the transverse flute and then recorder at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (Frankfurt University of Music) with Prof. Karl Kaiser and Prof. Michael Schneider and earned her master's degree in Historical Interpretation Practice in 2014 (Traverso) and 2016 (recorder).

2010 Award of the Foundation Basel Orchestra-society for Young Musicians, Performed Isang Yun Flute Concert with the Basel Symphonie Orchestra as a soloist, Participated in Santander Orchestra Academy
2009 First prize in the Chamber Music Competition at the University of Music Freiburg, Third prize in the 13th International Flute Competition Friedrich Kuhlau
2002 Second prize in the Japan Flute Convention

2016 - present Freiburger Barockorchester, DE (frequent sub, second flute)
2010 - 2012 Philharmonie der Nationen, Hamburg, DE (solo flutist)
MUSIC PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCES
2017 - present Formed a baroque ensemble “KINONE”, performed regular concert tours in Japan.
2011 - present Formed a flute duo “ARKO” with Reina Abe, performed 20 concerts in Switzerland, Germany and Japan.
